Bill Keen

Dobro

I was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, but lived in Charleston, South Carolina until I was five. My parents and siblings are native Floridians.  I was raised in the small town of Cork, Florida, and was saved in 1949 at the age of 10.  I played the sousaphone in my high school band and played a Baritone Bugle in the US Navy Drum & Bugle Corp. I graduated from Turkey Creek High School in 1957; and, later, Hillsborough Community College. I served in the Navy from 1957-1960 and Navy Reserve, 1961-1968.

I am blessed with a fine family including my wife, Beverly, three children, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

In 1968, I began to play the dobro and rhythm guitar. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, I played with several local bluegrass bands and one other Gospel bluegrass band.

I am retired from General Telephone Co. (now Verizon). My interests include hunting, traveling, reading, and music.

I have been a member of Riverhills Church of God for many years. My desire in life is to gain more wisdom and knowledge of and from God’s Word and to be used of God to encourage and bless others.

My motto: Be interested in everything, find good in everyone, and be myself everywhere (not be pretentious).

Since joining Never Fade, I have watched us grow together as a band to do the best we can to reach out to our listeners, to touch hearts and souls, and to draw people to the Lord through music, testimony, laughter, and tears. To be willingly used of the Lord–every talent and ability–is the most satisfying and rewarding aspect of playing with Never Fade; and, really, of life.
